What do I need to bring?

You may wish to bring some images or a sketch as inspiration for your linocut, this will allow for more carving time! However there will be plenty of inspiration to help you decide.

All equipment and materials are provided as well as aprons.

Please bring a packed lunch with you if the workshop covers the lunch period.  There is a cooler where you can keep it.

Is there parking?

Yes. There is plenty of free on-site parking

What can I expect to produce in the time and what will I take home with me?

Accepted Answer

By the end of the workshop, you will have produced a set of hand-printed cards or printed fabric depending on which workshop you choose. You will also have your carved lino block to take home which can be used over and over again.

You will gain the confidence and the skills to continue printmaking at home and you will also be given my linocut printmaking guide booklet to remind you of everything we covered, including a list of the equipment and printmaking suppliers I use.

Does it matter if I can't draw and is the class suitable for complete beginners?

It is absolutely fine if you've never done any linocut or drawing before. The workshops start with the very basics and the whole process will be carefully explained. There will be lots of inspiration to help you decide what you would like to carve. You can go at your own pace.

Is there a minimum age?

As we will be using sharp carving tools 15 is the minimum age.

Where is the studio located?

The address is Chequers Cottage, Newington, Oxford  OX10 7AW.  The entrance on the A329 is slightly hidden by tall trees but there will always be some red balloons by the gate on the day of the workshop.

Tea, coffee and cake are complimentary and you are welcome to help yourself throughout the workshop.

Unfortunately, we cannot cater for individual dietary requirements and allergies.

Cancellation

Unfortunately, we are unable to give a refund or exchange dates if a cancellation is made within 14 days of a workshop date.
